Ubiratan D’Ambrosio é certamente um marco da educação matemática brasileira, internacional e certamente uma das pessoas com participação mais ativa nos diversos CIAEM. Fomos convidados pelos editores da série Advances in Mathematics Education editada pela Springer para editar um livro em memória de nosso querido  educador matemático.  Após aceitar o convite, conseguimos também a participação de seu filho, Alexandre D’Ambrosio, no pensar do livro. Assim, convidamos diversos autores de diversas partes do mundo e nesta apresentação vamos comentar de modo geral algumas ideias dos autores convidados das Américas.

A look at the legacy of Ubiratan D’Ambrosio

Ubiratan D’Ambrosio is certainly a landmark in Brazilian and international mathematics education and certainly one of the people with the most active participation in the various CIAEM meetings. We were invited by the editors of the Advances in Mathematics Education series edited by Springer to edit a book in memory of our beloved math educator. After accepting the invitation, we also managed to get his son, Alexandre D’Ambrosio, to think about the book. We invited several authors from different parts of the world. In this presentation, we will comment on some ideas of the guest authors from the Americas.
